Description
I had searched for three years before I found this copy of The RCA BIBLE. They just don't come on the market very often.
I have owned this book for three years. It has been next to my desk because I use it very often in researching which RCA Living Stereo LSC records to aim for. I got my money's worth from it. I now pass it on, starting at the same price I paid for it many years ago.
If you listen to or enjoy Shaded Dog RCA issues this volume is a great resource. The information contained in this book makes collecting the RCA classical albums from the late 1950's to the mid 1960's more interesting.
There are 43 sections listed in the contents. The chapters cover the history of the Golden Age, RCA Philosophy, he RCA mix, vinyl pedigrees, lacquer matrices, metal mother codes, RCA labels, Shaded Dogs, White Dogs, Plum & Pink labels, Side Dogs, No Dogs, etc... RCA labelography. Then comes the Living Stereo catalogue. Each entry tells the number, composer, title, orchestra, producer, and recording engineer. They then list the pressing number of their copy, three ratings and a used price in dollars as of 1994. The notes are what makes it so entertaining. Then comes essays on RCA and the golden age by various authors. 161 pages.
