·       LITTLE WALTER – THE BEST OF LITTLE WALTER -  1959 CHESS  MONO LP 1428

·       GENUINE U.S. PRESSING

·       We firmly believe that this is one of the Greatest Blues recordings ever released,  and easily one of the top-10 Finest Harmonica (Harp) Blues albums of all time (the other nine runner-ups being:  (1) ‘Hoodoo Man Blues by the late great Junior Wells;  (2) ‘Found Love’ by Jimmy Reed, (3) ‘Down and Out Blues’ by Sonny Boy Williamson,  (4)  ‘The Soul of Blues Harmonica’ by Shakey Horton, (5) Shakey Jake’s ‘Mouth Harp Blues’, (6) Slim Harpo’s ‘Raining in my Heart’ , (7) Lazy Lester’s ‘True Blues’ and (8-10) the select recordings by the John Mayall Bluesbreakers, Paul Butterfield Blues Band and Sonny Terry.

·       VERY EARLY PRESSING CIRCA 1962/63 ON ALL-BLUE CHESS LABEL WITH SILVER PRINT (THIS IS NOT A MID-60s PRESSING ON BLUE-FADES-TO-WHITE LABEL).

·       THIS IS NOT AN IMPORT, RECORD CLUB RELEASE OR A COUNTERFEIT PRESSING.

·       ORIGINAL, THICK CARDBOARD COVER (AMERICAN STYLE)

·       THICK, HEAVY VINYL PRESSING

(PLEASE SEE THE IMAGE OF THE COVER, LABEL OR BOTH, SHOWN BELOW)

In his review of this album , the late great Cub Koda wrote: “If there's a blues harmonica player alive today who doesn't have a copy of this landmark album in their collection, they're either lying or had their copy of it stolen by another harmonica player”.  We rest our case!

So, there you have it,  folks:  here it is - easily one of the top-10 blues albums of all time!. Hear it, and you will know why. Track listing: My babe - Sad Hours - You're so fine - Last night - Blues with a feeling - Can't hold out much longer - Juke - Mean old world - Off the wall - You better watch yourself - Blue lights - Tell me mamma. Blues does not get any better than this. Little Walter is to Harp Blues what Miles Davis is to Jazz.

·                               CONDITION:

·                               RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VERY GOOD+(+) . CAUTION: The vinyl is NOT MINT or NEAR MINT, but is nevertheless in a very nice and clean condition. There are some surface marks and abrasions, mostly light and superficial, although some may be longer than 1.1/4 inches (1 inch = 2.5 centimeters)

(b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           Mono pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more  preferable to its FAKE ("electronically rechannelled") stereo counterpart. We estimate that FAKE stereo copies of this album outnumber monos by a ratio of at least 20:1.

(d)          True Stereo copies of this album are NOT known to exist.

(e)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·       COVER

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-         Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2  (front side) and 3 (back side)

-         Back cover has circular tarnish (grayish, dust-covered sections, which closely follow the contour of the record),  probably caused by friction or by rubbing against other covers during the storage. The tarnish is similar in appearance to a common ring wear, but, UNLIKE ring wear, these grayish areas may be possible to clean up with a minor effort and with a right cleansing solution.

-         Cover shows some light yellowing on back side, apparently from aging  (nothing significant).

-         Back cover has a few yellowish dust speckles scattered here and there (these tiny spots are not overly obtrusive or distracting)

-         Minor shelf wear noted on the bottom seam (nothing significant)

-         Cover has one corner slightly worn / dinged / bent.  (nothing significant)

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No split seams

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No wrinkles or creases

-        No writing

-        No stamps

-        No peel-off marks

-        No mold or mildew spots

-        No stickers or labels

-        No water damage

-        No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or  cuts.

-        No warping

-        No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-        No glue traces or wax residue.

-        No bar codes

-        No RIAA stamps or stickers.
