Description
A couple of years ago, one of Australia's most respected and most eloquent music writers passed away - he was active all throughout the 80's and 90's, and to a lesser extent, right up until recently. His credibility was perhaps best illustrated by the high reverence in which he was held by his journalistic peers, and especially by the absolute cream of Australia's musicians - members of Cold Chisel, Midnight Oil, Radio Birdman, Sports, Angels, and many many others counted him as an ally (itself rare in the too often isolationist world he inhabited)...and he had a flurry of loyal readers too...all of whom, it's my guess, would have felt a loop of sadness at the thought his indepth and articulate, impassioned appraisals would no longer be forthcoming.
Just recently I was offered to buy his record collection, which I did, feeling pretty honoured to do so...and here then, is one of the items from that collection:

ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING?: Yes, it is...
Unique promotional-only album featuring GREAT (read: funny/insightful) interviews with the band, and lots of music as well...with pic cover and inner sleeve...but it's the cover which is interesting here: it bears the normal LP catalogue number (EMC-2575), plus the cassette number (TC-EMC-2575) in the top right corner as per any normal release, with the former on the spine as well - it's designed to look like an LP cover ready for release...except...it looks like they stopped designing half way through, as the lower part of the back cover is blank (where further credits and company/copyright/band details would normally be)...
Overall, it appears that this was, at one early stage, intended to be the original cover - everything about the design suggests that. The inner sleeve is on textured card and appears to be the same as the one that came with the eventually released album. But this cover is unique. It does NOT look like it was prepared specifically for this radio special...otherwise the correct catalogue number (LRBRS-1) would surely have featured on the cover. The words 'RADIO SPECIAL' only appear on a sticker on the front.
CONDITION:
COVER: ( VG+ )...has quite a bit of ringwear (see pix), and foxing (light brown 'age-ing' spots)...
RECORD: ( VG+[+] )...the vinyl has a few light marks but nothing heavy and plays beautifully!...
LABELS: (Side One: M- / Side Two: M- )...
