 LIGHTSHINE - Feeling, rare impressive private press psychedelic progressive album issued in 1973,a classic among small label label releases.Unfortunately i'm not able to give the full names of this crew,as the sleeve only stated their forenames:Joe(guitar-vocals),Ulli(guitar-flute-vocals),Olli(synthesizer),Wolfgang(bass) and Egon(drums).The band was from the Emmerich area near the Dutch border,recording their obscure album in an unknown studio named Trepita-film-Ton-Studio(whose label was also responsible for its release).It's hard to give you an accurate impression of this album because of its great variety.they obviously loved to incorporate crazy elements into their music,as illustrated by the primal screams at the beginning of " Sword in The Sky " and the king's laughter in " king and Queen ".There were also moments of great beauty:the cosmic,Ashra-like guitar style on " Nightmare "with soft vocal harmonies and synthesizer textures." Lory " borrowed the bass pattern from Grieg's composition " In The Hall Of The Mountain King "and had gutsy distorted guitars.The aforementioned "king And Queen " was a 13 minutes opus,merging melancholic melodies,lyrics and dreamy instrumental parts with the sudden appearence of the insane king!The album concluded with " Feeling ",a kind of acid-folk composition culminating in a final frenzy.Overall,an extremely good album,well worth hunting for!An original copy will cost more than 250 DEM!

Resembling Satin Whale more than any other of their Kraut-rock contemporaries; strange to say it, but a very original album even though it is informed by UK progressive bands like Family or Genesis. The abundance of swirling fuzz toned guitar throughout makes this an ace on the hole.

   Lightshine were a mid-70s German band that were fairly well known in their time, gigging heavily and opening for groups such as Hoelderlin, Jane, Colosseum II, and The Scorpions. They self-released their only album, Feeling, in 1973. The five tracks here reveal a musical style that falls somewhere in between the early 70s German psychedelic sound and the later 70s, more symphonic German sound. The five piece band featured dual guitars, bass, drums, synthesizer, and flute. Recalling groups like early Golden Earring, the music mixes heavier riffing with mellower psychedelic noodling, though there is more of a melodic sense here than in a lot of other German psych. The vocal sections are fairly typical of this genre, generally annoying with their often cheesy English lyrics, but the instrumental sections are much better, at times having a slight symphonic sensibility, helped by the presence of the synthesizer and flute. The two longer tracks are predictably the best, mainly because there's more instrumental parts and less vocals. Overall this is nothing to write home about, but those into German psychedelic rock would probably find it interesting.

LIGHTSHINE is a very unknown but great band from the Krautrock german scene, which was formed in Emmerich by Wolfgang, Ulli, Joe and Egonwhen when they were about 20. They played very trippy and beautiful music pieces, in the style of AMON DÜÜL II, ELOY, with a little touch of LED ZEPPELIN, GENESIS and PINK FLOYD. The band manages to bring something new to the Krautrock movement.

     In 1973, they released their unique album, Feeling, edited with a limited number of copies. The disc features great epic floating long pieces, mostly dominated by electric floating guitar and alternates relaxing and catchy passages. An unknown classic of Krautrock !

                        Cover: EX glossy to VG+ ( some wear around the sides - tiny split on top cover side fixed with well-put tape some corners wear and maybe light aging color or it was like this originally !).
