Originally released in 1993, River Runs Red was the seminal debut album from Brooklyn alternative metal legends Life Of Agony. Over three decades on since its initial release on Roadrunner Records, the LP remains a renowned fusion of hardcore punk, alternative rock and grunge, leading to one of the definitive staples of the alternative metal subgenre. With all lyrics, melodies and musical concepts credited to bassist Alan Robert, the overarching narrative tells the story of a troubled teenager from a broken home whilst delving into sobering themes of misanthropy, parental neglect, regret and suicide, complete with dramatic skits that elevate the project to warped cult concept album status. Produced and mixed by Josh Silver (ex-producer/keyboardist for Type O Negative), this newly remastered edition is essential listening for any fans of Alice In Chains-style "spooky grunge" who aren't opposed to some metallic NYC hardcore grit, or mid-90s theatrics.
