AIRES 7" US, CatNo.: MJ-502 A: LEROY SIBBLES (as LEROY HEPTONES) GUIDING STAR (A bit of reggae-mystery coming your way...this is Hep-Tone Leory Sibbles in great style...reviving classic sounds from Studio One...for the Bullwackie Coorp...Munchie Jackson & Lloyd Barnes...what is mysterious here is that I'm sure this riddim wasn't laid at Wackie's but...at Studio One...seems as Munchie took this out of the hands of Mr. Dodd and to N. Y. C. for a Leroy Sibbles-voicing...listen to the clip...Mr. Sibbles' voice is much in the foreground and sounds very clear while the backings sound rather noisily...I may be wrong...but it's more than a shot in the dark...if you know...let me know...anyway...comes on original US Aires-imprint...from around 1975...I&I guess...strikkly collector's item...Heptones...Bullwackie...Studio One-bizz...soundfile on request...don't miss...just send in your email-address...don't miss out...and watch out for other my roots-reggae-items!!!) B: LEROY SIBBLES (as LEROY HEPTONES) GIVE ME LOVE (Another killer lovers tune by this most-impressive singer...once more it's Studio One...a totally wicked riddim...and this vocal turns out to be a different cut to the Heptones' "Give Give Love" ("Freedom Line"-album)...same riddim as used by Lincoln "Sugar" Minott for his "Give A Hand" from the "Live Loving"-album...many thanks to Studio One-pundit Zappow for putting me on the right track!!!!) ORIGINAL PRESS (NOT A RE-PRESS) FEATURE: COLOURS OF JAH RAINBOW WAX'N'SOUND: g+ / g+, both sides look ruff showing many surface marks and surface scratches, plays nicely w/ very good punch and full sound, there's a lot of surface noise on the tracks, some crackle. Infact Mr. Sibbles voice comes very clear and in the foreground while the rest of the music keeps in the background, to my ears this sounds like the tunes were played mono and got a live-voicing! LABEL: both sides show general wear, a lot of writings/markings, much more on the B-side, tiny damages - watch the scan, please! " REGGAE - SKA - ROCK STEADY - ROCKSTEADY "
Something 'bout Sound + Vision: We shouldn't rely on visual appearance alone (as pretty looks isn’t all as they say) - therefore these records are graded after their visual appearance and their sound quality! I personally prefer a record with crackling but strong sound + punch to one playing clean but with surface noise from the pressing (as we find with re-pressed discs - too - often). Grading records is a very subjective thing but I try hard to be objective as a human being can be (yes indeed, this seller is a human being). THIS IS MY VINYL GRADING SCALE: EX (= really great - EX means "excellent", really...) VG (= nice, if you don't have an excellent one - by the way: VG means "very good"...) G (= playable, but you might find a better one - G means "good", but this term may be a bit euphemistic to reggae-vinyl-novices. Be realistic: a record graded G doesn't jump nor stick, but that's the best I can say about it...) P (= just a collection-filler for the hard-edged + hardest-boiled collectors + selectors + all the rudegals out there - P stands for "poor", yunno...) MORE REGGAE RECORDS FOR SALE
