Description

  • Leon Russell released his third studio album "Carney" in June 1972 on Shelter Records. His backing band included Jim Keltner on drums, Don Preston on guitar, and Carl Radle on bass. Boosted by the hit single "Tight Rope" the album reached No. 2 on the charts. Shelter was based in Tulsa and was started by Leon and producer Denny Cordell and is also noted for being the first label to sign Tom Petty.

  • This copy of (SW-8911) is from the First Pressing and is in excellent condition. Even after nearly 50 years, the cover still has its original Factory Shrink Wrap firmly attached and is in Near-Mint condition as is the inner credits insert. Please see the pictures. The disc test plays cleanly and is VG+ which is as high as I go on vintage vinyl. This copy was pressed at the Capitol Records plant in Los Angeles. The Side One dead wax is etched SW-1-8911-F9 3 and stamped ?.

  • In addition to its original packaging, this album will come with a high quality Anti-Static Round Bottom Inner Sleeve to hold the vinyl disc and a sturdy 3 mil. polyethylene Archival Quality Outer Sleeve.  It will ship securely in the special corrugated Album Mailer seen in the last picture. 

  • This vintage 12" vinyl album has been sitting upright on a shelf in climate controlled storage for the past 49 years. It has not been played in decades other than a quick test spin for this sale which found no skips or obvious flaws. Like all used records it should be cleaned and wiped with an anti-static brush to minimize the occasional pops that are part of playing vinyl albums. Buyers should note that this is a well-cared for but used record and it will have some minor imperfections.
