"As the adage doesn't go, you cyan put a dub man down. The last few years have seen a seen a ruck of new releases from Perry, quite a few of them sub-par, but this one with NYC legend, Bill Laswell, is a peach. Now the high side of 75, Scratch more than proves his worth with Laswell (himself over 55) at the desk and glorious vocal assists from TVOTR's Tunde Adebimpe and Ethiopian chanteuse Gigi Shibabaw. The mood is sweetly smoked-out and psyched with a deeper Rasta mysticism, enriched with Laswell's brass arrangements and drenched in lustrous echo and delay. We'd strongly recommend drawing for 'Orthodox' featuring Gigi's sugar-dipped vox in finest style, or equally the sanguine title track and the anti-G skank of 'E.T'. Rude boy still got it!"
