LEE MORGAN - THE SIDEWINDER
Great condition copy of this 1964 highly collectable US Blue Note 1st press rarity with outstanding audio quality
Year/Label : 1964 US BLUE NOTELabel number : BST 84157
Matrix numbers : BNST-84157.A, BNST-84157.B (hand etched), with "VAN GELDER" (machine stamped) and Plastylite "P" (or "ear") etched on both dead wax run-outs
Gleaming with jet black sheen excellent plus (EX+) condition vinyl (many would grade as "near mint", I am sure), completely flat and virtually unmarked...if you look very closely, under a bright light and with the vinyl tilted to the right angle, you may be able to detect just a couple of tiny and extremely faint surface/hairline marks...negligible, and obviously purely superficial. Clearly, this record has been only very sparingly played. Each label is pristine with not even a single faint spindle trail - amazing!. Note the "NEW YORK USA" text on each label, synonymous with Blue Note 1st pressings of this record. Iconic, excellent (EX) condition and eminently presentable original thick cardboard outer sleeve with all of the colours, art work, photos and text remaining impressively intact. Each edge remains firm with just a few tiny and very light scuff "nicks" on the top edge and a few mm of light scuffing adjacent to the spine corners on the top and bottom edges...nothing really.. Each corner remains a nicely defined right angle with very minimal rubbing on each and just a little compression on each of the spine corners. There is no fraying on either of the opening edges and the spine remains rigid with all spine text nicely intact though there are just a couple of tiny and incidental "nicks". The reverse side is equally impressive with just a few very light and small storage/handling marks and just the hint of some very mild vertical ageing towards the opening side - each of these blemishes is very trivial but I have tried to show them in my photos so please do take a look. Note the "43 West 61st St., New York 23" text at the bottom of the reverse side of the outer sleeve - another very 1st press identifier. Superb, near mint (NM) STEREO audio quality with no clicks, skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, interference, distortion or background crackle. Simply fabulous tone and crystal clear audio quality throughout - stunning...it doesn't get better than this! Every track is a great listen with legendary musicians Lee Morgan (trumpet), Joe Henderson (tenor sax), Barry Harris (piano), Bob Cranshaw (bass), and Billy Higgins (drums) each at the very top of their game...truly, one of the all-time great Blue Note albums. Comes with plain white inner sleeve. A truly wonderful condition copy of this Blue Note rarity with stunning STEREO audio quality throughout!
