LEE MORGAN "Lee-Way" Blue Note 4034, "P", "RVG," DG, Mono Vinyl

This is the 1960 first-pressing, "RVG" stamped, Deep-Groove, Laminated Cover, "P"-pressing of LEE MORGAN's "Lee-Way" on the Blue Note Records 47 West 63rd NYC labels of Blue Note BLP 4034. ("R" under "Note" on label) Musicians include Lee Morgan, Jackie McLean, Bobby Timmons, Paul Chambers, Art Blakey.

VINYL has consistent surface noise (staticy) on both sides; louder Side 2 than Side 1. Locked groove end of side two. Plays well overall. Vinyl surface shows hairline marks; three one-inch and one four-inch feelable scratches. Very good gloss, both sides. As with all Lexington Ave to New York USA Blue Note pressings, imperfections do not detract from this powerfully recorded and pressed vinyl. Instruments are clear and dynamic.  The Deep-Grooved "47 West 63rd NYC labels" are clean, with minor wear and spindle marks.

The LAMINATED COVER is in very nice shape, corners worn. See photos. Spine clean. Seams clean except for 1/2 "split lower seam near opening.  "BLUE NOTE RECORDS, INC. 47 West 61st St., New York 23" back jacket mostly clean, show aging, sticker, and writing upper right corner.  See photos.

     

This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). Record cleaned on VPI 16.5.
