LEE MORGAN "Lee-Way'" Blue Note 4034, DG, P, RVG, Laminated, Mono Vinyl
This is the first edition, 1961, "RVG"-stamped, Deep Groove, Laminated Cover, "P"-pressing of LEE MORGAN's "Lee-Way'" on the "47 West 63rd" labels of Blue Note BLP 4034. Musicians include altoist Jackie McLean, pianist Bobby Timmons, bassist Paul Chambers and drummer Art Blakey.
VINYL plays with low to high level surface noise (i.e, static, ?? or ????,relative to the volume of the music/instruments) with occasional loud ticks and pops, but instruments are very dynamic, strong and present with clean transients, powerful extension and full tone. Crackles present in ballads. No Skips. No Distortion. Good vinyl gloss. Groovewear present Side 1, #1. Many hairline marks, two feelable to fingertip. The "47 West 63rd " labels are clean, spindle wear. See photos. Original inner sleeve included.
The LAMINATED COVER is in very good condition, with worn corners. Top seam 2 1/2" split at opening. Spine clean, 1" split at each end. Bottom seam, shows wear/ink gone 2" inches to jacket opening. "BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC, 43 West 61st St., New York 23" back jacket shows some aging, library stamp. Please see photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters).
