LED ZEPPELIN LP LED ZEPPELIN II ATLANTIC 1st press
RARE LIVIN’ LOVIN’ WRECK MISCREDIT
On offer is the LED ZEPPELIN LP entitled LED ZEPPELIN II released on ATLANTIC 588198 in STEREO in 1969. This is the RARE 1st PRESSING red/maroon label with the LIVIN’ LOVIN’ WRECK credit error – in the light brown GATEFOLD sleeve – and with THE LEMON SONG listed.
This rare LP is in nice condition as follows:-
v GATEFOLD sleeve – E J Day – this one has been stored in a plastic sleeve for many years and is nice VG+ condition. Please note that these 1st press sleeves were not laminated… So they are often in poor condition - BUT not this one. There is some wearing to the edges – the spine is in nice condition – and the inner GATEFOLD is in great shape with nice clear colouring – the sleeve is clear of writing or other marks. The credit on the GATEFOLD inner sleeve reads – LIVIN’ LOVIN’ MAID: whereas the disc reads LIVIN’ LOVIN’ WRECK. In summary the sleeve is in VG+ condition and has been well protected over the years.
v DISC label – the label is nice and clear – with no writing or other unsightly marks. There is one very small white mark above the credit to WHOLE LOTTA LOVE on Side 2 – but this is only minor (see scan). The main point to note is that this lists THE LEMON SONG on Side 1 – and LIVIN’ LOVIN’ WRECK on Side 2. Both these errors were rectified on later pressings BUT it is this early variation (on offer here) which is highly collectable.
v DISC vinyl – this has the matrix numbers - Side 1 - 588198 A2 & Side 2 - 588198 B2. The vinyl – which is nice and thick / heavy duty vinyl as first pressings are- is visually in lovely EX- condition with a nice sheen and lovely clean vinyl. There are a few minor marks not affecting play. The record plays EX throughout and sounds loud and clear on my hi-fi with the exception of some background crackle and pop audible during the quite passage at the very end of side 1.
In summary this is a very nice VG+/ EX- example of this rare LED ZEPPELIN II LP with the rare label listing of LIVIN’ LOVIN’ WRECK.
Tracks are - Side 1: Whole Lotta Love / What Is and What Should Never Be / The Lemon Song / Thank You. Side 2: Heartbreaker / Livin’ Lovin’ Wreck (She’s a Woman) / Ramble On /Moby Dick / Bring it on Home.
