VG+...on playtest the record sounds great, playing generally excellent throughout with only the faintest hint of background sound in between some tracks or in some lighter passages but nothing that would distract from what is a lovely sounding copy of this record.

DESCRIPTION: 

There are currently 7 verified and known 'plum' label variants. 

This is the 6th (of 7) known 'plum' label variants. Specific to this label are: 

Track B1 is credited on B-side label as "Misty Mountain Hop" 

Feather logo at 2 o'clock is upside down. 

'Marketed by Polydor Records Limited' at 6 o'clock on labels. 

'Under license from Atlantic Recording Corp.' in white area under ATLANTIC on left side. 

LED ZEPPELIN is printed above spindle hole. 

Catalogue number at 3 o'clock above circular Atlantic logo reads 'deluxe 2401012' 

There is no Peter Grant credit and song publishing credits are: 

Kinney Music Ltd./Superhype Music Inc. 

This upside down feather is specific to this label variant and the very first label only, as it was corrected on Variants 2 through 4, but turns up again on Variant 5 and 6 (This one) and is corrected again on Variant 7 which is the last pressing on the 'plum' label. 

Inner sleeve has lyrics to 'Stairway to Heaven' on one side and track titles and credits on the other. The first inner sleeves are dark gray with two foldback edges to the side. Interestingly, whilst Jimmy Page succeeded in having the Peter Grant credit removed from the labels, they were never removed from the inner sleeves. 

This release was commonly referred to as 'Led Zeppelin IV', to follow in sequence with their previous three releases, but no actual title appears on the release.

GRADING:

All records are play tested for sound quality.

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. 

The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. 

Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, 

despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, 

without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some 

distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
