1970 Led Zeppelin III - Atlantic  2401002 Vinyl Album

"Do what thou wilt" and "So mote it be" in run-off grooves indicating the very first cut pressing.

This album is in amazing condition – I would rate it as Excellent and would say it has had very few plays; there are only a few minor spindle marks. There is sensational sound quality, with no skips or jumps and no clicks.

There are no deep scratches; there is one small scuff mark on side one, and 3 difficult to see hairline marks on side 2 but they have no detrimental effect on the sound. This album is in very remarkable condition for 1970 vinyl and is probably one of the best you will find.

The sleeve is in excellent condition with no rips or tears. The outside laminate has minor wrinkling on the top edge both on the front and back, and in the bottom right corner of the front. There is the impression of the word ‘Barb’ on the front. The spinning wheel inside the front cover is in excellent working condition – this is a bonus as many copies are now broken! Inside, the gatefold is remarkably clean and shiny, with a couple of laminate wrinkles. There is one crease at the opening of the envelope for the album on the backside. The inner sleeve is in perfect condition but yellowing in places. The edges are neat and straight and the spine nice and straight and legible.

This is a great investment opportunity for Led Zeppelin enthusiasts and record collectors, as early recordings such as this and in this excellent condition are very rare to get hold of nowadays.

GRADING:

NB: I try my very best to grade conservatively to avoid disappointment as hopefully my feedback suggests.

Record Collector magazine grading standards:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.

The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
