LED ZEPPELIN II 8236 VERY RARE EARLY LUDWIG MASTER RARE TEXTURED COVER

Up for auction is an original pressing of Led Zeppelin II, SD 8236. This is the legendary pressing mastered by Robert Ludwig (RL)  at Sterling Sound Studios (SS). The Info in the dead wax, (side one) W AT ST-A-691671-A-P-LW RL. (side two) W ST-A-691672-A P LW AT RL Ss W. The Ss has the small non interlocking 2nd s in the Sterling Sound etching. Some of the later RL pressings have a larger SS with both S's being the same size. The info at the bottom of the record labels are (side one) is (ST-A-691671 PR), (side two) is (ST-A-691672 PR)  The PR at the end of the code indicates it was pressed at the Presswell record plant in Terre Haute IN.  This is a  nice copy. It is a rare one as well. This is a very early RL pressing it features a different edit on the song "Ramble On" The ending of the song is longer on this pressing than on other Zepp II RL's i have. I believe they had two or three different edits on the ending of that song. They kept making it shorter. You can hear it "rambling on" as the song fades out. The record itself is a weak VG+. No skips, no jumps. It has several surface marks and some light scuffs most of which dont affect the sound or playability. The record plays really nice. It has very little surface noise, just a little here and there mainly on side two. The quiet parts are quiet which is hard to find especially on these early pressings. Nice gloss. The only mark that causes an issue is a light scratch that is about a half inch long on side 2. It doesnt affect the needle but does cause a light tic for several seconds between the first and second songs on side two and the beginning of Ramble On. This record rocks. Absolutely a great play copy and is hard to find among Zepp II RL pressings, Not all Zepp II RL's are created equal LOL!       Cover,  VG This is a rare cover it is the early textured paper that seems to be a cotton based paper (I guess). I have a few of these and these are extremely hard to find in great shape. It is a very delicate paper. It has some kind of texture pressed in the paper (see pics). The cover is in really great shape but it has just a couple bad spots on the front edge of the gatefold cover where the paper is worn away and the paper is deteriorating and has a 2" to 3" split along the front edge of the gatefold opening. The opening where the record slides in is nice and crisp as are most of the edges, just some shelf wear along the bottom and top but the seams are strong and crisp. The spine has wear and some light tearing and discoloration along the edges but the spine is very sturdy and seams are strong. It just has some wear and tear of 40 years.  The original Atlantic inner paper sleeve is included. Its in great shape. Has a split.
 Record will be shipped outside of the cover in a new plastic inner sleeve. Then cover and record will be placed in a plastic outer sleeve and mailed in a record mailer with cardboard pads/inserts to further protect the record. Record mailer is high quality. consists of 200lb test cardboard with a 32lb edge crush rating. I have been collecting records for years and totally understand how to safely ship records.
