Description

Here it is...the classic Led Zeppelin album II, in the original RL pressing. Zeppelin released this album in 1969, and the RL mix by Robert Ludwig was too heavy for many turntables. The heavy mix literally made the needles jump, which ruined many, many copies of the album and caused Atlantic to recall and/or discontinue this mix of the album. Atlantic immediately reissued a tamer version of the album, and needles all across America breathed a sigh of relief.

However, the "hot mix" of this album caused two things to happen in the 21st century: 1) Because it was pulled/discontinued, it's tough to find this album in the RL mix 2) If you find a copy of this album, it's usually in horrible condition, because of the needle jumps

This copy for sale is unique because side 1 is the RL mix, and side 2 is the LH mix. LH is Lee Hulko, the owner of Sterling Sound (one of the best pressing plants of the era). There isn't much of a difference between the RL and LH mix. To my ears, the RL mix has a tiny bit more "kick" than the LH side, but, both sides are far superior to the "tame" version that Atlantic released.

Record grade- VG+++. As I said, this is a tough album to find in decent condition. This copy does not skip, and only has the slightest crackle from time to time, which is pretty normal for a 44 year old album. This album was cleaned using my VPI record vacuum...decades worth of dust was sucked out, making this album super clean!

Cover grade- VG++. No splits, just some normal shelf/age wear.
