Led Zeppelin’s second powerhouse of an album, catalogue No. 588198 on the Atlantic Red/Plum label. The FIRST UK PRESS matrix numbers are A2 and B2. An EXCELLENT example of this original 1969 FIRST PRESSING. This copy has the EARLIEST ‘LEMON SONG’ track listing and LIGHT BROWN sleeve. As with all these original UK RED/PLUM pressings, the power they got into those grooves is astonishing ! So much better than the lifeless re-issues on the orange/green labels from other parts of the globe, including the UK. This recording has a tremendous power and presence that just surges out of the speakers and hits you like the Hammer Of The Gods !! Play it at number 11 and hear why its one of the best albums ever made by any band anywhere !! The vinyl has a mirror like sheen and only hairlines visible under light. There are only a few light clicks on the record and only the lightest of crackles in a couple of the very quietest sections !! It plays wonderfully, the sonic assault of ‘Whole Lotta Love’ with THAT RIFF, the floor shaking thunder of John Bonham’s drums, and THOSE VOCALS !! The sheer awesome power of ‘Heartbreaker’ and the semi acoustic beauty of ‘Thank You’ and ‘Ramble On’, really is something special when you hear it on these first UK pressings !! They all come pounding out at you !! The vinyl grades as EXCELLENT. The ORIGINAL LIGHT BROWN E.J. Day sleeve is in fair order with a black mark on the front. There is wear apparent on the edges and the spine. This I would grade as GOOD+. The labels are as vibrant as they were in 69’ with no writing or other defacements. The record comes with its poly lined ORIGINAL INNER SLEEVE. An EXCELLENT example of this seminal album !!
