Another from my personal collection THIS IS LISTED FOR ITS MEGA RARETY! ,The audio quality on this vinyl will be hard to surpass!!!!! This original turquoise cover together with the earliest pressing is arguably the rarest Led Zeppelin album to find!! Very few covers were released in turquiose, and this being their 1st is mega mega rare and extreemely collectable!!!

Please note! Over the past 35 years or more, I have collect many many multiple copies of the Led Zeppelin UK albums, always striving to find the best audio quality! In the next few days I will be listing the first five Led Zeppelin albums, and these will be the earliest possible, or available Pressings, all of these would be in exraordinary condition and highly collectable for any avid Led Zeppelin audiophiles out there!! !

This album was originally released for a short period of time with the origional cover in Turquoise sleeve lettering and then released with orange lettering! This pressing being the original and the earliest!!!

Led Zeppelin is the eponymous debut album of English rock band Led Zeppelin. It was recorded in October 1968 at Olympic Studios in London and released on Atlantic Records on January 12, 1969. The album featured integral contributions from each of the group's four musicians and established Led Zeppelin's unique fusion of blues and rock. Led Zeppelin also created a large and devoted following for the band, with their unique heavy metal and psychedelic rock sound endearing them to a section of the counterculture on both sides of the Atlantic!!!!!!!

The conceptual originality of the album was displayed on tracks such as "Good Times Bad Times" and "Communication Breakdown", which had a unique and distinctively heavy sound new to the ears of young music-buyers in the late-1960s. "Communication Breakdown" would become monumental in its influence: In the documentary "Ramones - The True Story", Page's sped up, downstroke guitar riff is cited as guitarist Johnny Ramone's inspiration for - and basis of - his punk-defining, strictly downstroke guitar strumming. Led Zeppelin also featured delicate steel-string acoustic guitar by Page on "Black Mountain Side", and a combination of acoustic and electric approaches on their adaptation of "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You".

"Dazed and Confused" is arguably the album's centerpiece: a foreboding arrangement featuring a descending bass line from Jones, heavy drumming from Bonham and some powerful guitar riffs and soloing from Page. It also showcased Page playing guitar with a cello bow (an idea suggested by David McCallum St., whom Page had met while doing studio session work). The bowed guitar in the middle section of the song brought psychedelic rock to experimental new heights, especially in extended stage versions, building on Page's earlier renderings of the song during the latter days of The Yardbirds. "Dazed and Confused" would become Led Zeppelin's signature performance piece for years to come!!.

The bowed guitar technique is also used on "How Many More Times", a song which features a "Bolero" riff and a broken-down noise section in which Robert Plant howls Albert King's "The Hunter" (a blues song popularized by singer Koko Taylor). On this track, Plant vocally mimics Page's guitar effects - a metallicized version of the "call and response" blues technique.

Many of Led Zeppelin's earliest songs were based on blues standards, and the album also included three songs composed by others: "You Shook Me" and "I Can't Quit You Baby", both by blues artist Willie Dixon; and "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You". Regarding the last of these, at the time guitarist Jimmy Page mistakenly believed he was adapting a traditional folk song he had heard on a Joan Baez record, but this was corrected on subsequent rereleases after it was revealed that the song was composed by Anne Bredon in the 1950s. Dixon, on the other hand, received proper credit as the composer of his two songs on this album (although "You Shook Me" would later be additionally credited to J. B. Lenoir) but would go on to sue Led Zeppelin over partial use of other material of his on the band's second album!!!!

Led Zeppelin was produced by Jimmy Page and engineered by Glyn Johns. The album was recorded on an analog 4-track machine, which helped to give the record its warm sound. Page reportedly used natural room ambience to enhance the reverb and recording texture on the record, demonstrating the innovations in sound recording he had learned during his session days. Up until the late 1960s, most music producers placed microphones directly in front of the amplifiers and drums. For Led Zeppelin Page developed the idea of placing an additional microphone some distance from the amplifier (as far as twenty feet) and then recording the balance between the two. By adopting this "distance equals depth" technique, Page became one of the first producers to record a band's "ambient sound" -- the distance of a note's time-lag from one end of the room to the other!!!!!!.

The album cover features an artfully manipulated version of the most famous photograph (originally from UPI) of the Hindenburg disaster. It is in fact an illustration of this photograph drawn with a Rapidograph pen and ink by graphic artist George Hardie!!!!!!!!!!

Side one

"Good Times Bad Times" (John Bonham, John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page) – 2:46 "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" (Bredon, Page, Robert Plant) – 6:41 "You Shook Me" (Willie Dixon, J.B. Lenoir) – 6:28 "Dazed and Confused" (Page) – 6:26

Side two

"Your Time Is Gonna Come" (Jones, Page) – 4:34 "Black Mountain Side" (Page) – 2:14 "Communication Breakdown" (Bonham, Jones, Page) – 2:27 "I Can't Quit You Baby" (Dixon) – 4:42 "How Many More Times" (Bonham, Jones, Page) – 8:28 (listed as 3:30 on record sleeve deliberately by Jimmy Page in order to trick radio stations into playing the song.)

Robert Plant participated in songwriting, but wasn't given credit due to unexpired contractual obligations!!!!!.

The Matrix

side 1. 588171 A#1 (The Earliest for this pressing with Superhype Credits)

side 2. 588171 b#1 (The Earliest for this pressing with Superhype Credits)

The Vinyl

This is the original thick and heavy type of vinyl which has deeper grooves! and are much more robust and produce the best audio quality than later press which were much more flimsier!!!!!

On initial inspection THIS LOOK SUPERBE !! In strong light I can see very (very) few surface marks in fact only minimal scuffs\scratches in fact these are very fine indeed any other marks that could possibly be seen would be sleeve removal marks only!!!! In my opinion this vinyl has been played but, doesn't look like it has been played that much and certainly not over played!!!!!!

The Audio Quality

Sometimes you find a special special vinyl with a unique and very rich full frequency sound! In my opinion this is definately the one!!!!!!!!

To start with I would class myself as highly critical about the audio quality Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that I normally get it right! This vinyl was played by me prior to listing , at very loud volume on a top system! THE AUDIO IS CRISTAL CLEAR AND VIBRANT THROUGHOUT WITH (NO) SIGNS OF DISTORTION OR ANY GROOVEWARE WHATSOEVER!!!! TOP! TOP! TOP! TOP! AUDIO with the barest minimal interfearance only!!!!!!! Any critism that I can make is that I heard some very inobtrusive static ticks\very light clicks during the outro to the track of 'Babe i'm gona leave you' but (these are not loud clicks or pops probably caused by a needle been dropped at this point, and would not probably be so noticable at low volume on some systems) Points to note! I have carefully played this three times before listing at very loud volume on a top system!!! Even between tracks and importantly during quiet tracks I heard (no) magor, just minimal background noise (no) annoying crackle BELEIVE ME THIS IS SO RARE ON A 38 YEAR OLD LED ZEPPELIN VINYL!!!!!! IN MY OPINION THIS VINYL WILL BE HARD TO SURPASS!!!! !!!The Audio must grade at least excellent on side 1 and excellent plus\ near perfect on side 2. in my opinion!!!

please note! i always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd static ticks\crackle\click (not consistant throughout the audio) please remember that this is an original 39 year old vinyl ,,, that would have originally been played on a 39 year old system!!!!

These are the original Plum\red Atlatic labels (only early press) Feature ''SUPERHYPE'' CREDITS! (The rarest and most collectable of this pressing) ''under licence.........'' is featured only early press!!!!!! ''MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN'' (UK press only) spidering can be seen angled in strong light THIS HAS NOT BEEN OVERPLAYED OR INDEED BEEN PLAYED THAT MUCH IN 35 YEARS AT ALL,because this has been stored in a case for all of this time!!!!!!! (SEE PHOTOS) NO SPINDLE WARE THE HOLE IS PERFECTLY ROUND!!!!!

The Record Sleeve

This is the original poly lined plain white record sleeve! with (no) splits or tares very light creases (see photos) A superbe example!! Please note the vinyl is stored seperately from the vinyl! This ios the way that I always store my records!!!!

The Cover

This is the original (fully laminated) cover with the rarest ever to find (TURQUOISE) writing\text 1st ever issue (originally and only released for a very very short period with turquoise writing) Printed be MacNeill Press London!!!!  Please note! The laminate is super glossy appearance,, There is just minor\limited creasings to the laminate and very light laminate lift to the laminate at the spine end (very common) but very little if (no)storageware\scuffing! THIS IS SO RARE TO EVER FIND IN ANY CONDITION, AND BEING PROBABLY ONE OF THE 1ST EVER LED ZEPPELIN ALBUMS EVER TO BE RELEASED MAKES THIS SO DESIRABLE FOR COLLECTORS TO HAVE IN THEIR COLLECTION JUST TO OWN A COPY WITH THE TURQUOISE COVER!!!!!
