Description

Here we have a mega rare Led Zeppelin 1 album, owned since new in 1969 by my dad ( Guaranteed original Ist press!! ). It has the original Turquoise lettering on the cover, red & plum labels and the uncorrected matrix numbers - 588171 A//1 and 588171 B//2

Cover has NO splits, tears, holes, writing or stickers. The spine is intact without any disk rub. Because the covers are laminated, there are some crescent shaped thumb creases caused taking the record out but you get these pretty much on all copies of this record. Cover printed and made by MacNeil Press Ltd

The record labels are perfect with just some light spindle marks around the centre hole and carrying the Superhype music credits. The record is still bright and perfectly true without any warping, it has some light surface scratches ( and a few small heavier scratches ) and scuffs but nothing effecting its play or quality. When played there is some surface noise and crackle in places but no lessening of sound quality and really does still sound great. Comes in what I believe is the original paper inner sleeve with polythene liner.

Postage cost stated is for first class delivery, but can be sent special delivery insured if you want at cost, just let me know. Please contact me if outside the uk for exact postage costs and insurance options.

I will be listing a few more records this week including Cream-Disraeli Gears ( 1st original press ) John Mayall-The diary of a band FULLY SIGNED ( Ist original press ) Captain Beefheart-Dropout Boogie ( 1st original press ) Jimi Hendrix Experience-Electric Ladyland ( Ist original press ) The beatles-Please Please me ( 3rd original mono press )

I don't really sell records ( although I do have a lot ! ) so i'm not quite sure what sort of detail to put into a listing for a rare record like this ( really with regard to the playback quality ).Some people put nearly nothing, which is fine, but then you won't really know what you are going to get.I've had a look at a few other listings for this record and one sounded very similar in condition to the one I'm selling ( although my cover sounds in much better condition! ) so here's a bit more playing detail! As mentioned, when played there is surface noise ( mostly crackle ) this can be heard mostly in the quiet sections ( as we know Zeppelin is a combination of the mellow and the full on rock out ) but also at other times and is pretty constant.I think there is a bit more crackle on side one that there is on side two.Having said all that, there isn't any noticeable deterioration in the quality/dynamics of music itself, because the record sounds great, the solos and vocals are clear with no missing detail. So to sum up,if you don't mind background crackle, but do want a great sounding original recording then this is the one for you! As mentioned the cover ( front and back ) is very good so nothing more to mention there.
