  • Originally recorded in 1948, production 1953, released 1962
  • Two copies of the 8 page liner notes covering all four discs. Essay and production notes by Frederic Ramsey, Jnr, and Moses Asch. (In pocket parts 2 and 4)

Vinyl - Remarkably clean, honest and intimate recordings. Surfaces were barely marked with really tight spindle holes. Decaying paper inner sleeves had left a lot of debris on the surface so I have spin cleaned them with a Knosti (20%IPA) however they still play with light background noise.

  • Part One VG+ - Side 1 imperfection (blob) in vinyl clicks lightly about 5 revs.
  • Part Two VG - Background noise remains light but is persistent. Short scratch about five clicks on side 3.
  • Part Three VG+ - No clicks or pops with only light background noise
  • Part Four VG - Only light background noise but with pops for 3 revs side 3

Covers - The covers are of a heavy card construction, with taped edges, a pasted image on the front and printed text on the back. In general all the covers are clean and unmarked. Minimal shelf ware, crisp spines and 3 good corners (bottom left a little crushed).

However the covers are designed with a second 'literature' pocket on the rear, being stiff card this is not easily accessible and has led to numerous splits of the taped seams. Although the covers present well, the low grade reflects this damage.

  • Part One VG+ - Would be near mint but the covers are so stiff that they have lost their malleability and need to be handled carefully. Were I to keep these I would store the vinyl in separate card sleeves.
  • Part Two G - tear to literature pocket on the bottom/ top.
  • Part Three G - tear to literature pocket on the bottom/ top and on spine.
  • Part Four G - tear to literature pocket on the bottom/ top.

Liners and Literature - All sleeves replaced with new white anti-static inner liners. Literature is crisp and unmarked.
