Specifications :

Based upon Kurzweils K2000 and utilizing their VAST technology, the K2500 combines several functions to become what Kurzweil calls a production station. The K2500R offers twice the polyphony and on-board system RAM. System software is easily upgradable via Flash ROM, that allows the user to update their system via SCSI or floppy drive. A full function 32 track sequencer is built into the K2500R. There are 16 song tracks and 16 arrangement tracks, 768 ppq, linear / pattern / and step record modes, full editing, and more.

• sample file playback (with added ram) with the ability to read Akai, Roland, and Ensoniq sound files
• 16 bit stereo sampling allows complete sampling functions, including Sample while playing

• 8 meg of ROM wave data expandable to 28 meg

• 2 meg RAM expandable to 128 meg
• 64x240 fluorescent backlit LCD screen, and more.

60 internal digital sound processing functions; up to 28 MB of internal ROM sounds; sample RAM expansion to 128 MB; dual SCSI ports; a myriad of interfacing options; and economical program memory expansion to 1.256 MB.
The K2500RS model comes with a sampling option standard. The base RS unit has 5 pairs of outputs, only four of which can really be used at any time. There are four dry pairs (labeled A, B, C, and D) and one main pair which has effects applied to it. Another feature that the K2500RS offers is live mode. This turns the sampling inputs into an I/O channel. You can pass sounds into the machine, perform full V.A.S.T. programming on them (see below), and route them back out with realtime control. I/O jacks are a common feature nowadays on many synths, samplers, and sound modules, but few of the modules that offer it can do as much with the sound as the K2500RS can. It's best feature is called V.A.S.T. (Variable Architecture Synthesis Technology). This is where the 60 available functions kicks in. You can mangle any ROM or RAM sample to your heart's content with this feature.

this unit has only been used in my home-studio, and was always built into a professional quiklok rack. (you can see little parts of my homestudio on some of the pics. naturally only the Kurz is for sale ;) ) I hope the pics show that it is in absolute fine condition. Naturally, it has a scratch here and there on the top surface, but no scratches whatsoever on the front. (before you ask : there is nothing wrong with the LCD screen, the flash of the camera was reflected in the LCD screen on some pics, but I wanted to include some pics with daylight too to show the scratchless front)
Included with the synth is of course a power cable, the 2 manuals, and even 2 instruction video's plus a SCSI drive. However : I have never tested this SCSI drive personally. I just got it for free when I bought the Kurz from its previous owner.
There are tons of sounds freely available on the web for Kurzweil synths, and since this unit has a sequencer and sampler onboard, it's possibilities are huge ! (please have a look at http://www.k2users.org/k_main.htm for all kinds of Kurzweil info)
The previous owner obviously expanded the memory cause I can load more than 800+ sounds into it, as opposed to the 200 it can hold standard.

Why am I selling this unit ?
I have about 12 hardware synths in my studio, and tons of software. I'm not using this unit enough to justify me keeping it, and I can use the cash to buy a new mixer. I always said I would sell the gear I don't use enough as I hate seeing people having tons of gear they never use. So I'm hoping this Kurz can leave to a new home where it will be well nurtured ;))

I prefer local pickup (since Belgium is such a small country this shouldn't be too hard, I live in the central part), or I can even bring this unit to your home if you pay for my gas. But if you insist I have no problems shipping this synth (insured !!). I have tons of old packing materials in my attic from all my previous ebay buys, so wrapping it safely should be no problem ;))
