Kronos Quartet / In Formation / Reference Recordings RR-9 45RPM LP Mint Vinyl!!
This is a recording by Professor Keith Johnson. If you know what that means, cool. If you don’t, you’re in for a treat. This is a 45RPM LP from 1982, 30+ years before the current trend of 45RPM audiophile LP releases. The music is basically an excellent chamber group having fun with popular tunes (including the Funky Chicken) on a superb analog recording. If you want to show off your hi-fi rig, this will do it. I actually bought this copy at one of the CES shows in 1984 from the Reference Recordings both.
I confess, I was an 80’s audiophile and I worked in the business, on the retail end. Yup, I was that 20-something audio geek. I collected anything that HP and the Absolute Sound or Stereophile anointed, rarely played them and cared for them with an insane level of passion. I still love audio and LPs as much as ever, but the need to amass and care for a huge amount of LPs is just not there anymore. Especially the stuff I NEVER PLAY! There’s so much great new vinyl coming out these days, the dead wood has to go… The LP is mint, you cannot see or hear that it is not new.
It has always been stored properly in a protective outer sleeve, in moderate temperatures & humidity and never exposed to direct sunlight. There are no splits or cracks on the splines or split seams. The jacket is mint. I keep an index card in my LP sleeves to keep track of how many times I’ve played a record. The card in this one indicates I played it 3 times.
