Description

Label SAX 2307 Silver /Blue original - stereo

Brahms Violin Concerto in D Major

 Philharmonic Orchestra conductor Kyril Kondrashin

Artist -  Leonid Kogan

Sleeve - condition near mint with slight rubbing on bottom edge, inner sleeve original near mint.

Record - I have listened to this record on my Linn LP12  with Ekos arm and Quad amplification and would make the following comments.

Side 1 - There are a number of soft ticks  within the first 6/7 seconds  and a further number  about  4 minutes in, thereafter  there  are occasional soft ticks about 9 minutes in and occasional tick around 18 minutes in. About 5 cm  from the end  of side  1 there is a very low frequency  noise for about  3 seconds  which I believe to be in the pressing.--- I consider that all these  do not detract  from the  aural sound from the record side.

Side 2  There are slight ticks at the beginning   and there  is a low frequency sound  repeated  for abot 5 revolutions I beleive this to be within the pressing. The rest of the side has occasional  ticks of no more than about 3/4 at a time. ----- I consider that none of these  detract from the musicality of the  disc.

Visually -  side  1 is  extremely good  with a small scuff that does not appear to sound.

side 2  is in near mint appearance with a small non-sounding mark at one point at the end of the recording. The label of side 1 is near mint but side 2 label  has had a stamp  put on it at  some time and  discoloration can be seen in the picture.

Overall this  record is excellent both aurally and visually and has wonderful sound but because of the  things mentioned above  it cannot really be classed as near mint but has to be the top end of  excellent.I do not  consider that  any of the 'ticks'  fall into the 'clicks' category.

A reasonable starting price has been  given and  in view of the records rarity  I have set a realistic reserve.

I will be pleased to answer any questions.

Please note that the reference to a low frequency sound 5cm from the end of side 1 should read 5mm. Sorry for any confusion.
