RECORD GRADING

·        N-= Near mint, virtually no visible or audible signs of use

·        E+= Almost perfect copy, very very few signs of handling or being played. Surface is very shiny and looks like new, virtually free from scuffs/scratches

·        E= Very limited signs of wear, surface remains shiny perhaps with minor scuffing, which is inaudible. Grooves still in excellent condition

·        E-= Above average 78, with perhaps some (albeit very limited) groove wear, together with minor surface blemishes. Surface retains a shine but no longer looks ‘new’

·        VG+= Average 78, moderate grove wear together with scuffs/scratches, but music is not distorted or surface noise intrusive. Surface now lacks shine

·        VG= Slightly below average 78, scuffing/scratches and groove wear now more noticeable, although listening remains comfortable. Surface shine now absent

·        VG-= Grooves now quite warn, surface has begun to grey, with more prominent scuffs/scratches. May be some limited distortion/muffling in louder passages.Overall 78 remains very playable however.

·        G+= Just about playable but extremely warn. Surface is now grey, sound distorted or muffled in places, with heavy scuffs/scratches. Although music remains more prominent than surface noise, listening is becoming uncomfortable

·        G= Grooves very warn, surface very grey, surface noise equal to or greater than music level. Uncomfortable to listen to

·        G-= Unplayable

Please note: Grading refers to record sound quality and the visual appearance of the grooves. Damage to labels, or physical imperfections such as chips, flakes or cracks will be listed separately.

I am not a professional dealer, but have been collecting records for over 20 years, with Louis Armstrong and King Oliver as my main area of interest. From time to time I sell duplicates from my collection – and try to grade conservatively. Happy to take returns providing you cover postage, and the record is received in the condition it was dispatched.
