Description
Welcome to another Oakley Boys auction of the weird and the wonderful, the classic and the rare. You lucky people are now in for a treat as hard times and a lack of a job are forcing me to sell some of my beloved record collection!
I have put a reserve on it as it is really a very nice copy- not mint though.
This auction is for a British MONO copy of the album 'Something Else By The Kinks' and is, of course, by the Kinks- released in 1967 on the Pye label NPL 18193. Please note that it is NOT mint so please do not expect a mint copy! it is however a rare album and this one can fill a space adequately until a mint one comes along. I don't think this one will disappoint. It is a brilliant album and one that I am very reluctantly selling. It features the original David Watts ( as covered by the Jam in 1978), Death Of A Clown, the psychedelic era tracks Love Me Till The Sun Shines, Lazy Old Sun and Funny Face and finally the classic Waterloo Sunset amongst others
Respect to Oneadayrecords (Mike), Geesdee and XXXrecords(Graham) whose knowledge and patience I admire for bringing in the huge bids that their descriptions generate. I, however, have neither to their levels BUT I DO have the records!
The cover is intact with some edge and corner wear and what I think is a partial removal of the colour in the top left of the front where maybe a sticker had been? There is NO writing.
I'm not sure if it is the correct inner sleeve for the album but nevertheless it has a split on one side.
The record labels are clear of writing and stickers but display some spindle marks. The area around the hole shows a minimal amount of wear.
The most imortant part now- the vinyl. There are a few light surface marks but nothing significant and a few crackles at the beginning of side one before 'David Watts' kicks in. There is some background crackle between tracks. I did not hear any jumps nor did the stylus stick at any point and possibly there is a little bit of distortion on 'End of The Season'. I suppose it is possible to remove some of the noise with a Moth or similar cleaning tool but I am guessing. My deck is a Technics btw in case you wondered how I rated the record. For the 'stamp collectors' of you the matrix numbers are:-
side one- NM(crossed out)PL18193A-1*M
side two- NM(crossed out)PL18193B-1*M then MPL 18193B1*M crossed-out
PLEASE NOTE THAT WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET. I DO NOT 'DOCTOR' ANY RECORDS NOR COVERS TO MAKE THEM APPEAR MORE PERFECT THAN THEY ARE!
Now for the boring bits--UK postage as stated. IF IT GOES FOR OVER £50 ( which of course I am hoping for!) THEN YOU WILL ALSO HAVE TO PAY FOR SOME SORT OF INSURANCE EITHER RECORDED OR REGISTERED. For the REST of the world postage is going to be more and I will ONLY send 'signed-for'. If bidding from outside the UK then please check on postage costs BEFORE bidding. I will ONLY accept Paypal from outside of the UK.
Please bid with confidence as I have a 100% positive feedback rating of OVER 770.
