*OVERALL CONDITION: Very Good or Better - Looks like the elements have take some wear being out of the glass - the brass could use a bit of a polish - Lot includes the original RIAA matte with affixed record and engraved brass plaque, but does not include the frame - Give this special piece a new home and the TLC it deserves and it will shine in your collection.
HISTORICAL CONTEXT: "King Tut" is a novelty song performed by Steve Martin and the Toot Uncommons (actually members of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band), about the Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun and the Treasures of Tutankhamun traveling exhibit that toured seven American cities from 1976 to 1979. 
Martin previewed the song in a live performance during the April 22, 1978 episode of Saturday Night Live. In this performance, loyal subjects appease a joyful King Tut with kitchen appliances. An instrumental solo is delivered by saxophone player Lou Marini, who steps out of a sarcophagus—painted gold—to great laughter. (Wiki)
MICHAEL ELIAS: In 1971, Elias and Steve Martin were both staff writers on The Pat Paulsen Half A Comedy Show. When Martin decided to devote himself to stand-up he invited Elias to write material for him. This began a long collaboration that also included Martin's comedy albums and two of his network TV specials, A Wild and Crazy Guy (1978) and Comedy Is Not Pretty! (1980), as well as the screenplay for The Jerk (1979). Elias was a contributing writer on King Tut!
