KING CRIMSON Lizard UK. Island ILPS 9141. Released 1970.
This auction is for an early UK pressing of Lizard by King Crimson on the Pink Rim Island label. The A2 B2 matrix is etched, which I couldn’t immediately see as a recorded variant on Discogs, but someone may be able to determine it’s exact provenance, although I’m 99% sure it’s a UK pressing.
There is an error in the track listing with track 3 listed before track 2 on the A side.
Grading: -
Outer Sleeve: EX-
The gatefold sleeve is graded as EX- . It is generally clean and has no major condition issues. There is generally mild rubbing in a few isolated areas on the spine and bottom edge with a small ding to the bottom right-hand corner which is perhaps the most notable condition point. Overall, a nice condition example.
It should be noted that the plain grey areas on the cover of this sleeve look dirty, but this is the case on all examples and is an effect within the artwork itself.
Vinyl: EX
Under bright halogen light the vinyl has some very light hairlines which are visible, but the vinyl retains its deep black gloss shine. Whilst not completely mint, it’s a very nice copy.
Audio: EX+
The album plays extremely well, with minimal background noise and provides an enjoyable listening experience and the powerful sections in particular gave a superb sonic performance.
Matrix Numbers:
I – 3 ILPS 9141 A2 (all etched) EG
I – 1 ILPS 9141 B2 (all etched) EG
The labels are generally clean with little signs of use.
Overall, this is really nice copy with unusual etched matrix
Please note I grade conservatively.
Postage and Packing:
All records are placed in a separate poly lined inner and stored flat outside the sleeve and then placed sealed in a re-sealable polythene outer prior to shipping. Records are then placed between square cardboard sheets before packaging into cruciform mailers especially designed for LP’s. These mailers are a high-grade type which reinforce the edges around the LP and as such they are larger and weigh more than standard mailers. My postage costs reflect the additional size and weight of the packaging that I use.
I ship to the UK and selected European countries, plus North America and Japan.
UK Bidders:
£4.95 via first class postage.
Europe :
£15.95 via Royal Mail International Tracked & Signed service
North America and Japan :
£26.95 Royal Mail International Tracked & Signed service
Payment must be made within 3 days of the auction close.
