UK 1969

Up for auction from my personal collection is the rather magnificent LP "In the Court of the Crimson King" by "King Crimson". This was first issued on the Pink Island label. After that Palmtree labels were used. Please note I will put more interesting obscure lots up for sale in the coming weeks.

The album is generally viewed as one of the strongest debuts of the progressive rock genre, where King Crimson largely stripped away the blues-based foundations of rock music and mixed together jazz and classical symphonic elements. In his 1997 book Rocking the Classics, critic and musicologist Edward Macan notes that In the Court of the Crimson King "may be the most influential progressive rock album ever released". The Who's Pete Townsend was quoted as calling the album "an uncanny masterpiece". In the Q and MOJO Classic Special Edition Pink Floyd & The Story of Prog Rock, the album came fourth in its list of "40 Cosmic Rock Albums".The album was named as one of Classic Rock magazine's "50 Albums That Built Prog Rock".[5]

Vinyl: EX. There are NO skips NO jumps and NO sticks.  Light background noise on the subdued pieces like "I Talk to the Wind" and "Moonchild". There are no marks or hairlines. Under a strong light the obligatory paper retraction traces which are invisible in normal daylight. Nice heavy glossy vinyl on this earliest label. Superb audio with beautiful stereo channelling, I played this in full and listened on my headphones. The replay was magnificent like just a first press sounds. Any re-issues do not have this sound quality. Played in full on a high end turntable with a Linn cartridge. NO skips, NO sticks, NO jumps.

Gatefold Sleeve: EX. The original E.J.Day matt gatefold sleeve is in great condition really and I have seen the majority of these in far worse condition. There are no creases and the colours are rich. NO sticker tears and also NO seam splits.  The spine is 100% legible. The edges are practically unworn. Some wear to a bottom corner. An upgrade for most and one of the very best I have ever seen! The inside gatefold is EX at least.

Though there are rarely ever any problems with my items, I always try my very best to describe everything exactly!  PLEASE REMEMBER to contact me FIRST,  if you have any problems at all, before you leave feedback and star ratings, so I get a chance to turn any negative experience into a positive one!  I can always happily sort anything out for you, if you let me know you have a problem!  This way no one has to leave Negative/Neutral feedback - and we both walk away happy! Similarly with the amount of stars, anything less than a full 5 * rating is effectively detrimental to a seller's rating as lower ratings will incur higher Final Value Fees  and lower priority in the bidlists eventually making it unattractive to list items on Ebay at all. I know of at least one major previous Ebay seller who has decided not to list via Ebay again. Please do NOT bid if you cannot give me at least 1 chance to sort everything out to your FULL satisfaction in the unlikely event of a problem.  Thanks again!!
