Description
This is an unbelievable copy of a terrific album ... an original UK pressing of Khan: Space Shanty on Deram (SDL-R 11). Take a look at my pictures. I don't think you will find a better copy.
The fragile unlaminated gatefold sleeve is a perfectly preserved work of art. There is no edgewear whatsover, no cornerwear, and all those gorgeous pastelly colours remain as bright and vibrant as the day this sleeve left the printers. Touch it and it still has that factory-fresh feel. All edges are true and straight and the spine and all four corners are perfectly sharp. No dings, no creases, no tears or stains, no half-moons or anything else; just the merest hint of ringwear at the top of the rear panel which most probably wouldn't even notice. The monochrome moonscape inner sleeve is of course just as pristine as the outer. Here is a remarkable example of a vulnerable 36-year-old unlaminated gatefold sleeve that will prove tough to beat.
The fine slab of 1972 Deram vinyl boasts 1W/1W matrices while the pretty red Deram labels look as new (I can just about make out one tiny spindle mark on either side, indicating absolutely minimal use). Both playing surfaces look pristine; under examination in harsh halogen lighting you can just about detect the odd tiny mark here and there ... but that would apply to spanking new factory fresh vinyl anyway. It is obvious that this disc has been very carefully handled.
You know what copies of this album usually look like: floppy and dog-eared. But this remarkable copy of Khan: Space Shanty merits a genuine EX+/EX+ grading.
And the music? Steve Hillage, Nick Greenwood, Eric Peachey and Egg's Dave Stewart are on top form, bringing you psychedelic space rock at its spaciest. Ignite your joss stick and take off! Good luck if you are bidding, and as always, ask any question you like in complete confidence (ie, I won't broadcast you).
