Description
Kevin Ayers & The Whole World (feat. Mike Oldfield) “Shooting At The Moon” original 1970 LP on Harvest.
I bought this new in the shop (Bruce’s in Edinburgh) and only played it carefully a few times. I had a quality system, so the LP is near mint with no defects at all. Brilliant audio!! No scratches, hairlines, scuffs or anything, just superb vinyl!
Catalogue number SHSP 4005.
The inner sleeve is plain white with no poly liner. The sleeve, made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd, shows very little wear to the laminated front, and appears close to new overall. Really close to new! In detail, there only a tiny amount of hardly-noticeable ring wear, only a trace of the shape of the disc here and there, and a couple of handling creases which are visible at the top right and bottom left, which were there when I bought it in the early 1970s. No rack or shelf wear, and no damage at all. It still looks flat and shiny overall, with a perfect spine. The back cover is fantastic with hardly any fading or yellowing anywhere, and looks close to new. There is a trace of rubbing at the top, around the shape of the record, but that is it. This sleeve is prone to severe ageing on the back cover, but this is as good as you will find anywhere! Still white! It really is a top copy. Check the photos.
The record itself is about perfect, played only a few times using a “dust bug” cleaner, & the labels and vinyl are perfect with no issues. The record is still mint. I would grade this as about near mint. This takes into account the cover not being dead mint, but it wasn’t even when I bought it, it had a couple of handling creases and had been in stock a couple of years. It was a hard-to-find LP even then (I couldn’t find a copy anywhere in the North East of England!), and is super-rare today in this condition. Impossible!
Features a very young Mike Oldfield, and is a great 1970 LP, really capturing the era. Part of my Kevin Ayers collection all being listed this week!!
