Description

For auction is the KENNY DREW TRIO (with Paul Chambers & Philly Joe Jones), on Riverside 12-224 MONO, 1957. The record is deep-grooved both sides.  It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides complete. The sound on Side B has the most issues: the first cut is fine (w/ very light surface static), while #'s 2 & 3 both have some significant clicks and pops throughout, as well as louder static during softer passages. Cut #4 is fine, no issues to report.  Side A is quite acceptable, sound-wise. Aside from some very light surface noise, and one, single, soft click in cut #2, it sounds very fine. Due to the playback issues of side B, I can't grade the record better than VG- or G+. But I point out that he issues are confined to one area (B/2&3) and the rest of the record plays VG+.
Visually, the vinyl is VG- with one scratch you can feel in the aforementioned problem area (B/2&3) as well as other surface scratches and scuffs.  *THE VINYL HAS FLAT EDGES ON BOTH SIDES*
The sleeve is VG. It has 2-3 inch splits in center top and center left spines. The corners are decent, and the laminated cover retains most of its sheen. The reverse has routine aging. Overall not bad. The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics. This is a sought-after record, but the condition is not ideal and I've been critical to err on the conservative side, so if you've been looking for this record, make a bid and see what happens! No reserve, bidding starts at $40.
Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material.  Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
