RECORD GRADING CODE
Records and jackets are graded conservatively, to ensure satisfaction.
accurate playback systems are used to check any surface marks.
Records are cleaned to remove contaminants, fingerprints, reduce
remnants of surface wear left from storage. Any marks are examined in
detail and checked for surface noise. Silent, unobtrusive marks in the
pressing are usually a pattern in the vinyl formation, not wear.
M = MINT or N - MINT - RECORD NEVER USED/SELDOM USED, FRESH VINYL WITH NO SIGNS OF WEAR.
NM = MINT MINUS - A SELDOM/INFREQUENTLY PLAYED RECORD, CLEAN VINYL, WITH SLIGHT INAUDIBLE HANDLING MARKS.
N - = NEW MINUS - A RECORD PLAYED OCCASIONALLY, SMALL AREAS OF LIGHT VISUAL WEAR, NO AUDIBLE WEAR.
EX+ = A RECORD PLAYED SEVERAL TIMES, HIGH AUDIO QUALITY, MINOR SURFACE NOISE BELOW THE MUSIC LEVEL POSSIBLE.
EX = A RECORD WITH BETTER THAN AVERAGE LISTENABILITY, OCCASIONAL SURFACE NOISE,
VG+ = RECORD USED QUITE A BIT, CAN HAVE AREAS OF LIGHT TO MODERATE SURFACE NOISE, NO HEAVY WEAR.
SIMILAR VALUES ARE ATTACHED TO GRADING JACKETS. INQUIRE FOR ANY SPECIFIC INFORMATION.
