LP : The Kenny Clarke-Francy Boland Big Band - Latin Kaleidoscope

Original French pressing from 1969 on MPS, 15033. Silver gatefold-cover with extensive liner-notes in French and English inside. Recorded August 28th/29th 1968 at Lindström Studios Cologne. The LP contains 2 long tracks/suites: on side 1 Gary McFarland's "Latin Kaleidoscope" and on side 2 Francy Boland's "Cuban Fever". Sharp brass- meets heavy percussion-section on this one, featured solo-players are S.Shihab, B.Bailey, D.Gojkovic, T.Coe, Ph.Woods and Å.Persson. Awesome flute-work by Shihab, I offer more records by him in my current auctions ( Companionship, Sahib's Jazz Party ). Amazing mix of HardBop-, Latin- and AfroCuban-Jazz that still sounds fresh and modern until today, one of the best Euro-Jazz of that time. Condition: side 2 looks mint-- to ex++ in daylight & in normal artificial light, it looks ex+ under a very strong halogen lamp. Side 2 looks basically the same but has 2 superficial tiny scuffs over tracks 1 & 2. Both sides play in mint- except for 2 soft low tics between 2 tracks on side 1, when there is no music.

The cover shows just a hint of slightest shelfwear, front & back and the inner of the FOC are fine, all seams/spine are intact without rub; overall mint-.

Zustand: Seite 2 sieht bei Tageslicht & unter einer normalen Lampe mint-- bis ex++ aus, unter einer sehr hellen Halogenlampe sieht sie ex+ aus. Seite 1 sieht im Prinzip genauso aus hat aber 2 oberflächliche Wischer auf dem ersten und zweiten Stück. Beide Seiten spielen in mint- mit der Ausnahme von 2 leiseren Tics auf Seite 1 zwischen 2 Stücken, also dort wo keinerlei Musik zu hören ist.

Das Cover hat nur allerleichteste Lagerspuren, Vorder- & Rückseite und das Innere des Klappcovers sind wirklich schön erhalten, alle Kanten sind intakt und ohne Abrieb; insgesamt in mint-.

Alle Platten wurden professionell gereinigt, entweder von mir (Hannl Mikro) oder von den Vorbesitzern (Okki Nokki, Loricraft o.Ä.). Anschließend wurden sie nur wenige Male abgespielt bzw. nur einmal von mir zum Bewerten angehört (komplett oder in Ausschnitten). Optische Bewertung erfolgt in Tageslicht, in normalen Kunstlicht & unter einer sehr hellen Halogenlampe. Platten kommen mit neuer hochwertiger Innenhülle & in einer Schutzhülle. Bitte beachten: auch prof. gereinigte Platten können einige Staubpartikel haben; “eingefangen” während optischer & akkustischer Bewertung, Fotografieren oder den wenigen Abspielungen der Vorbesitzer.

Grading & Cleaning:

• all records have been cleaned on a professional record cleaning machine, either by me (Hannl Mikro) or by the pre-owners (Okki Nokki, Loricraft or the like). After cleaning the records have been played just a few times (or only once by me for playgrading)

• I playgrade each record (completely or at least in parts) on my Rega Planar 9, high-end Moving Coil cartridge by EINSTEIN/ EMT TU-3 SFL (please consider that the playback might differ a bit depending on your own equipment)

• I also visually grade cleaned records in daylight, in normal artificial light & under a strong halogen lamp

• only an unplayed record is mint, my highest grading for a used record is mint- . My basic gradings are: mint – ex – vg

• cleaned records are stored in a new pro innersleeve and they are placed in a PVC protection-sleeve

• pl. note: even pro cleaned records may have received some dust particles during visual-/play-grading, photographing or few pre-owner playbacks
