Description

This fascinating item somehow bridges the gap between the 78rpm era and the development of microgroove LP's, recorded as it was in circa 1952 and issued in circa 1954 according to the 'Blues Discography'. This is a relaxed session with one man and his guitar playing old style blues with more than a hint of Tommy Johnson. Truely a' field' recording -hear the telephone and door slam about two thirds of the way through 'Key to the highway'!! This copy was issued in Australia with a different coloured cover to the US one but the same design and a different coloured label, and may well be even rarer than the US issue!!I am not aware that it was issued anywhere else at the time. A few more words about the condition - it looks 'as new'but being a very early example of an LP has some consistent underlying low level noise during playback and possibly the odd pop but no nasty digs or scuffs and sounds fine given it's age and the fact that it is an early pressing probaby from a small plant rather then one of the majors. Note th list of titles written on the top reverse side of the sleeve -see photo.Otherwise the flipback cover is in excellent condition given it's age with some browning but no splits. There is a small amount of residue along the front at the top. PLEASE AWAIT MY EMAIL AFTER CLOSE AS POSTAGE SHOWN WILL VARY DEPENDING UPON YOUR LOCATION AND ANY INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS AND MAY BE MORE OR LESS THAN THOSE SHOWN.  INSURANCE WILL BE ESSENTIAL TO SOME LOCATIONS. I AM IN THE UK SO COSTS OVERSEAS WILL REFLECT THAT BUT WILL BE KEPT AS LOW AS POSSIBLE. Any problems or queries, contact me.
