Liverpool-born, Glasgow-based producer Kavari brings hypnotic industrial tension to 'Plague Music', her debut EP for XL Recordings. Stripping away any residual softness from earlier work, these four tracks push into abrasive, unlit territory where drum & bass, dubstep and noise collapse into something tense and taught. Sound design does the heavy lifting: breath, friction and spatial detail brush against distorted low-end and fractured rhythms. There's no gloss or release valve, only pressure and atmosphere, which you could say is exactly where the world is at right now. Kavari's sound is confrontational yet controlled and a bold offering from an essential star.
