Description
Here is an original US promo copy of the debut (only?) LP by the British psychedelic band July. It is a white label promo on Epic Records, BN 26416. It is MONO. Matrix numbers are XEM 137850 and XEM 137851. I believe the retail US version of this LP was released only in reprocessed (fake) stereo, making the mono harder to find. Needless to say, the mono sounds better than fake stereo.
Condition: Please read CAREFULLY before bidding:
Vinyl: The LP was thoroughly cleaned on a Nitty Gritty machine. Vinyl is very clean. It has a nice luster, suggesting minimal play. There is a superficial scuff on the first two tracks on side two. It is visible, but you cannot feel it with your finger and it does not produce a sound. Because of this mark, I will CONSERVATIVELY grade the vinyl a VG. Sonically, it is at least a VG+ if not better. Vinyl is very quiet. Hardly any significant noise in the needle drop range; a couple of very faint sounds at the top of side one, hardly noticeable. Mono playback will, of course, reduce the sound of stylus travel and whatever small amount of noise exists.
Cover: The cover has seen better days. Structurally, it is pretty solid, with some edge wear along three sides and an 1 and 1/2 inch split seam on the bottom right. Aesthetically, there is ringwear on the back. "Demonstration" is stamped in red ink on the back over the group's name. Front cover has "Epic Mono" sticker by the logo on the center top (see picture). Front has some ringwear, a small letter "X" in pen on the top of the "J" in "July," and small amounts of image scraped off along the ringwear region.
Overall, this is a very respectable copy of a hard-to-find mono promo LP. Bidding begins at only US $9.99, no reserve.
