12" EP

Anonymous ANON 1

1,200 only

This record is one of the relatively very few I did not buy new myself and unlike the majority of my collection that has been kept from new in a plastic cover this has not experienced quite such absolute dedication for all its life.  However, I purchased it several years ago because it is a very rare record and it helped to complete my Joy Division collection.  I have graded the cover as very good and consider it to be consistent with my grading system (given the records age and rarity).  The vinyl on inspection is very good to excellent.  In conclusion this is a rare record in a very acceptable condition and well worth adding to a collection.  The most recent copy of this record on ebay sold for over £300

optimumdesign

Optimum design is not a retail business or a commercial operation but I have decided (with some regrets) to sell off my own personal collection of vinyl records.  The collection roughly covers a 20-year period from the mid seventies to the mid nineties and is based around the music played by the great and deeply missed John Peel.  The collection extends to several thousand records (99% of which are LP, 12” or 10” with just a very few 7”) and covers Punk, New Wave & Indie to give the collection a genre.  There are many rare items and although all items will be listed eventually on ebay, this will take a long time, so I would be pleased to hear from anyone if they are looking for a particular record.  Amongst the many rarities there are almost complete catalogues of groups such as the Fall & Sonic Youth.  I intend to keep at least a few records listed on ebay constantly so PLEASE CHECK MY OTHER AUCTIONS.

Terms & conditions

I describe every record for sale as accurately as possible and provide as much information as I can.  I welcome any questions prior to auction end and I will do my utmost to provide an accurate reply (due to other commitments I cannot guarantee a reply to any question sent within the last 12 hours of the auction).

I will also provide a description of the condition of a record and its sleeve as accurately as possible.  I consider myself to be very strict with condition descriptions and often bought an item that a seller described as mint or excellent only to downgrade it to very good or good.  For my own personal collection I have mostly followed with some adaptation the condition grading system from “Record Collector magazine” which I have used here.  The grading system is not scientific and can only be used as guide.  Please remember vinyl and its packaging is more fragile than cd’s and some of these records are now nearly 30 years old.  Once again please ask any questions prior to auction end.

Mint/brand new - The record itself is in brand new condition.  The cover and any other inserts are in perfect condition.

Excellent - The record shows slight signs of having been played but there is no lessening in sound quality.  The cover and any inserts will have only relatively minor wear and tear.

Very good - The record has obviously been played quite a few times but there is no major deterioration in sound quality.  The cover and any inserts will show distinct but not excessive signs of wear and tear.

Good - The record still produces a reasonable, playable sound but has obviously been played a lot.  The cover and any inserts will clearly show definite signs of palpable wear and tear.

Fair - The record has obviously been played so much that there is deterioration to the sound quality.  The cover and any inserts will clearly show serious signs of major wear and tear.

Poor - The record will have been played so much that there is major deterioration to the sound quality.  The cover and any inserts will clearly show major damage.

Bad - The record is unplayable and is only suitable for reference purposes.

Communication is the major factor with ebay, as we all want to avoid any possibility of a bad experience.  Please make sure you ask any questions you have before auction ends and if you have any doubts then it is possibly better not to bid.  Once a transaction is completed I will only accept an item to be returned if it can be proved that I have in some way mistakenly misrepresented it.  In any such circumstances communication is again the key, as any problems can always be resolved without a need for negative feedback for either party.  As with all auctions buyer remorse or change of mind is not an acceptable reason for return and would make it unfair on others who may have submitted bids.

Payment conditions & postage

UK buyers I accept cheque, bank transfer or paypal (see below for paypal terms).  Overseas buyers I accept bank transfer or paypal (see below for paypal terms).

Postage and shipping costs (which will be added to the final bid price) can only be estimated prior to auction end and are dependent on location of the winning bidder and once the item is packaged up.

As all my auctions are private sales, I have had to purchase proper record mailers to ensure safe postage.  Consequently, I reluctantly have to charge an extra 50p to each record sale to cover packing costs.

ALL PAYMENTS BY PAYPAL WILL BE SUBJECT TO A SURCHARGE OF 4% OF THE TOTAL (total = final bid price plus packing & postage).
