I have or had in my collection most singles and EPs by John's Children and their individual members, including UK Picture sleeves Desdemona and The Love I Thought I'd Found, all singles on Track including one of the actual authentic pressings of Midsummer Night's Scene with intact center which I have played once in over 30 years. I have many of the releases on Columbia both stock and promo issues. I also have the Spanish EP with PS. I also have many test pressings including Come and Play with both written and printed labels, as well as many acetates. Chris Townson (July 24, 1947, Battersea, London – February 10, 2008) was a musician, artist, illustrator and social worker. He is the only drummer ever to replace Keith Moon on a Who tour while Moon was still alive. Townson also played with Marc Bolan in John's Children in the 1960s. In the 1970s, he was a member of the bands Jook and Jet. Following the break-up of Jet, he became an illustrator and later, after returning to study, a social worker.
In the 1990s, he played in the re-formed John's Children and Radio Stars, as well as with solo artist / former Jet member Martin Gordon in the 2000s.John Hewlett: John's Children Bassist. Manager Sparks/Mumps etc.
The Jook were the brainchild of Sparks manager John Hewlett, who introduced guitarist Trevor White to singer-songwriter Ian Kimmett, and recruited bassist Ian Hampton and John's Children drummer Chris Townson. John Hewlett secured a record deal with RCA and a publishing contract with producer Mickie Most.
Also several members went on to Sparks: bassist Ian Hampton and guitarist Trevor White.From a 3000+ item John's Children Marc Bolan collection.
