Description
Ultra rare 12" LP of John Windhurst Quartet "Jazz At Columbus Avenue." Recorded 4/22/56 in Boston on Transition Records label number TRLP-J-2. This is the second jazz LP produced by Tom Wilson and the first having an accompanying booklet with artist/song info in lieu of printing that info on the back of the LP cover........The record is still glossy and in quite good shape, considering that it is 50 years old. I have played it completely and it plays with no skips but has quite a few clicks and pops. The clicks/pops do not detract at all from the excellent music. Both circular labels on the record are intact, with minimal spindle marks.............The LP cover is also in very good shape- there is approx a 3" split in the top right corner (not repaired) and a small mark where a price sticker was removed.............The 8-page booklet is in good shape however the top right corner on the last page is missing. Thankfully the missing portion was blank so all the info is still there..... The performers are John (Johnny) Windhurst (Trumpet), Jim Andrews (Piano), Buell Neidlinger (Bass), and Walter Gifford (Drums). On the last track Andrews is replaced by Bud Blacklock on piano and Hamilton Carson is added on tenor sax.......... The seven songs are: Back In Your Own Backyard; You Do Something To Me; Memphis Blues; Strut Miss Lizzie; Lover Come Back To Me; Georgia On My Mind; and When You're Smiling.......$5 shipping in U.S., Paypal preferred.
