Description

Along with the "Yesterday... and Today" Butcher Cover, this is the definitive collectible that every true Beatles collector must have!  John was in the midst of recording his "Rock & Roll" album while being sued for copyright infringement by Morris Levy.  As settlement of the suit, John agreed to record material owned by Levy's company and include it on his album.  When Levy asked about the progress of the project, John sent him demo tapes from the sessions, whereupon Levy proceeded to distribute them via his Adam VIII, Ltd. label, and sold them via TV ads.  John and Capital Records were, understandably, outraged and launched a countersuit against Levy, which they ultimately won.  Reportedly, about 3000 copies of the "Roots" album were pressed and unsold copies were ordered destroyed after the legal battles ended, so this an extremely hard-to-find and desirable album for serious collectors.

This copy is in absolutely MINT, UNPLAYED condition!  I bought it solely as a collectible when it came out and it is a GEM!  No damage of any kind to album or cover.  The only abnormality is that the label on one side of the album is slightly torn near the "A" in "Adam" (last photo below).  The record came this way and the label was actually torn when it was applied at the pressing plant.  "Bell Sounds" is stamped in the vinyl.   The spine of the cover reads, "John Lennon Sings the Great Rock & Roll Hits".  The "Roots" album was heavily counterfeited, but this is the ORIGINAL and comes with the original inner sleeve promoting other Adam VIII releases as well as the pre-addressed envelope in which to place an order.  This album generally sells for around $2000.00 at shows and the minimum bid will be higher if I list it again, so don't miss this chance to pick up one of the rarer collector's items!
