Scarce classic MINT 1973 UK FIRST PRESSING 12-track vinyl Apple label LP, including the title track and Bring on the Lucie (Freda Peeple), in the original MINT picture sleeve with original shaped card lyric inner.
The record is in immaculate Mint condition and sounds as wonderful as ever, while the cover and inner also fully merit a Mint grading. See pics. A superb copy of one of Lennon’s most underrated albums.
Highly desirable for its 1U/1U first press matrices and Mint condition, and increasingly difficult to find in good condition on vinyl, this could be a once in a lifetime opportunity to add this superb rarity to your collection at an extremely advantageous price.

All items are free from any major defects like scratches, tears, dog-ears, stickers, writing, stains or the like. See pics. All items are the genuine originals bought together by me in 1973, not reprints or replacements. The LP is the original 1973 UK stereo LP, which was only played once or twice on top-end audiophile equipment and lovingly cared for.

John Lennon's fourth album, Mind Games, was a retreat from its more political predecessor, 1972's Some Time in New York City, but it was still a reflection of its time. Lennon recorded the album during the summer of 1973, when the Watergate hearings (which he visited with Yoko Ono) were in high gear, and he was being threatened with deportation. Against that backdrop, the album can be heard as a calming, internal mantra -- Lennon's message of encouragement to himself. "Don't despair/Paranoia is everywhere/We can shake it with love when we're scared", he sings on "Bring On the Lucie (Freda Peeple)".

After the hostile reaction to the politically charged Sometime in New York City, John Lennon moved away from explicit protest songs and returned to introspective song-writing with Mind Games. Lennon didn't leave politics behind -- he just tempered his opinions with humour on songs like "Bring on the Lucie (Freda Peeple)," which happened to undercut the intention of the song. It also indicated the confusion that lies at the heart of the album. Lennon doesn't know which way to go, so he tries everything. There are lovely ballads like "Out of the Blue" and "One Day (At a Time)," forced, ham-fisted rockers like "Meat City" and "Tight A$," sweeping Spectoresque pop on "Mind Games," and many mid-tempo, indistinguishable pop/rockers.
While the best numbers are among Lennon's finest, there's only a handful of them, and the remainder of the record is simply pleasant. But compared to Sometime in New York City, as well as the subsequent Walls and Bridges, Mind Games sounded like a return to form.
A fantastic time warp example of this rarity in amazing condition, a true investment grade item - get it while you can!
