Description
JOHN LENNON 45 RARE Radio Station PROMO of "HAPPY XMAS (War Is Over) / LISTEN THE SNOW IS FALLING".
APPLE Catalog # S-45X-47663. (This is NOT the later more common APPLE release with Catalog # 1842).
All White Label with Black Print and large word "APPLE". Label is marked "NOT FOR SALE FOR RADIO STATION PLAY ONLY". These were pressed in New York at John Lennon's personal direction and NOT by Capitol. John Lennon was apparently not happy with the corporate promotion of this record so he had these unique promotional records pressed at his own personal expense beyond the normal
Apple Records effort. The catalog number 1842 had not been determined yet when these were pressed. It is important to also note that these copies were pressed in STYRENE rather than the regular vinyl. ALL REGULAR VINYL COPIES ARE COUNTERFEITS. The White Label with Black Printing is SEMI-GLOSSY. Copies with FLAT white labels are COUNTERFEITS. The label print (as shown on the attached photos) is clear and sharp. Issued in November 1971. VINYL is EXCELLENT and framed with a photo of John and a small blurb at the bottom about the record and that it was recorded with THE PLASTIC ONO BAND and the HARLEM COMMUNITY CHOIR.
