Description
Excellent original copy of John Lee Hooker's 1960 Chess LP "House Of The Blues" (Chess LP 1438). Early Chess LPs normally used a black with silver print label but on occasion they used a dark blue with silver print label making this is the rarer of the two original versions (per Goldmine Guide To Collectible Albums).
The tracklist is: Walkin' The Boogie/Love Blues/Union Station Blues/It's My Own Fault/Leave My Wife Alone/Ramblin' By Myself/Sugar Mama/Down At The Landing/Louise/Ground Hog Blues/High Priced Woman/Women And Money.
The glossy LP looks and plays near mint with just a few sleeve scuffs and superficial marks. The playback is crisp and clear but, as with many early Chess and Checker LPs, there is some surface noise. It is not at all overwhelming and some of it may be due to the source material. The cover is also in excellent condition with no splits or cutouts. There is a small tear on the front and some light wear and aging on the back but none of this detracts from the graphics or liner notes.
