Description
John Coltrane, "Blue Train" (Blue Note 1577, MONO) A stone classic Coltrane album, seminal and sensational, in Mono. With a sizzling Curtis Fuller, and the ever-dynamic Lee Morgan, plus Mr. PC, Philly Joe, and Kenny Drew. The vinyl looks VG-/G+, but mostly plays much better -- VG+ or better on Side 1 throughout. The big exception is "I'm Old Fashioned" on Side 2, which has a nasty scratch that results in several pops and clicks -- but no skips, thankfully. "Lazy Bird" also has some clicks, mostly during the bass solo. Sold as is -- you've been warned. With the RVG stamp and the "ear" in the trail-off wax, and the 47 West 63rd NYC address on the labels. Note that the address on the back jacket is 47 West 63rd New York 23, just to keep collectors on their toes. Play graded, strict grading, and man it's always a blast to hear this one again! The cover is G-plus, with masking tape on the spine, a large seam split at the top, a name stamped on the back side in blue ink(see my scan), tiny initials also on the back side, and general shelf wear after many decades. So there you have the flaws and strengths of this copy.
