Description
JOHN COLTRANE - ASCENSION, Impulse A-95, stereo, Van Gelder in dead wax.
This 1965 classic features Freddie Hubbard, Dewey Johnson (trumpet), Marion Brown, John Tchicai (alto sax), John Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, Archie Shepp (tenor sax), McCoy Tyner (piano), Jimmy Garrison, Art Davis (bass), Elvin Jones (drums).
The tunes are Ascension, Parts 1 & 2. This is the first take, only available for the first year (or less) of release. Afterwards, Impulse substituted the second take at Coltrane's request, and all subsequent vinyl pressings (also known as Edition II) have contained the second take.
Condition of record is E-, some very light scuffing, no scratches, several spindle marks, plays clean and quiet. Glossy gatefold jacket shows very slight overall wear, no seam splits. Name stamped inside.

M = Mint. Brand new, unplayed. We never use the term "mint" to describe a used record, no matter how clean the record is.
E = Excellent. Some evidence of having been played, with no audible defect.
V = Very Good. Noticeable wear, visual and audible. Records with slight surface noise and/or scuffs fall into this category.
G = Good. Not really all that good. Records in this category have more significant damage or wear.
F = More severe damage, distracting surface noise. Only used in incidence of extreme rarity.
P = Poor condition, proves existence of record only.

Shipments are made on Saturday and Tuesday mornings. Records which have been paid for by 3:00 PM on Fridays and Mondays will be shipped on the next shipping day.;
