Impossible to find still-sealed original! Second volume of this brilliant 1964 electronic performance given at an L.A. art gallery, a realtime sound collage of radio and tv samples, pre-recorded found sounds, and live recordings from microphones placed around and outside of the gallery (including audience conversations, sounds from the bar, and street sounds near the entrance to the building). This open-ended conceptual work composed in 1963 results in a live, chance-derived noise music, parallel to the musique concrete tape music of Pierre Schaeffer, Pierre Henry, Luc Ferrari, Bernard Parmegiani, and Vladimir Ussachevsky that was contemporary to this piece. Includes the famous spoken introduction ("In the grooves of this record is the sound of John Cage...") which details the techniques used in the performance.

Cage, arguably the most influential American composer of the 20th century, was known for his innovative use of chance methods, silence, found sounds, and extended playing and electroacoustic treatment techniques on traditional instruments; he studied under Henry Cowell and Arnold Schoenberg, led the New York School of early postwar experimental composers (Earle Brown, Christian Wolff, Morton Feldman), was a contemporary of Karlheinz Stockhausen and Iannis Xenakis, colaborated with Conlon Nancarrow, David Tudor, and Merce Cunnigham, and was associated with the Fluxus 'post-dada' art movement (Yoko Ono, Nam June Paik, George Maciunas, Joseph Beuys, La Monte Young, Milan Knizak, etc.). Tudor studied under Stefan Wolpe, Irma Wolpe, and William Hawke, collaborated with artists Robert Rauschenberg, Lowell Cross, Carson Jeffries, Bill Viola, and Viola Farber, and as the foremost American experimental keyboard interpreter worked with John Cage, Earle Brown, Morton Feldman, Christian Wolff, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Mauricio Kagel, Sylvano Bussotti, and Pierre Boulez.
