JOHN BRIM and his COMBO (includes vocal by Grace Brim) Fortune 801 'Strange Man' / 'Mean Man Blues'
10" 78 rpm record, original shellac record circa 1950 John Brim, guitar Alonzo Tucker, bass Gracie Brim, harmonica Big Maceo Merriweather, piano
Killer 50's Chicago blues on this scarce and desirable Detroit label. Most of this era 78 on Fortune are juked, hissy, distorted. This is as nice a copy as I've seen for blues on Fortune. "In 1950, Big Maceo invited the Brims to record with him in Detroit for Fortune records. This was the first recording session for the pair, and they released Strange Man/Mean Man Blues (Fortune 801)."

GRADE: V+ w/ staining B side



ITEM DETAILS:  Slight scratches / wear typical of age. Sound is strong with standard background noise common with 78s. Your playback may vary. Note discoloration on B side sounds lightly, unobtrusively under loud music. The record plays very well on my setup. See photos and ask any questions.
