Description
Joe Cruz and The Cruzettes. Villar Records(MLS-5304). Philippine Import
A 1970s Philippino latin funk band. They blend a mix of Latin, Bossa, Rock and Pop to form their sound. This Pinoy group is pretty awesome too, with a Nice, funky Latin groove throughout the record that gets really funky at times too! “Help Somebody” is a killer Latin funk Rock cut . “Nena” is a uptempo Latin flavored groove (Chorus – “Nina I Want To Dance with You,The Boogaloo”) , “Black Widow” is a killer Hammond styled instrumental with funky wah wah guitar and electric bass solo’s over the top near the end (the bass near the end sounds influenced by the intro of the Afrique cut “House of the rising funk”). “Cafe” is another nice latin vocal cut with a classic latin cow bell beat throughout, “Pana” is too ( minus the cowbells). “No One To depend On” is a cool cover of the Santana track. Very Scarce a Real Sleeper!
