Description
Hello and welcome to my vinyl record listings. I call myself "hi-fi-widow" as my husband has always been an avid hi fi enthusiast and record/CD collector. However, we have agreed that the collection now needs to be downsized and I have agreed to help him achieve that, much as I enjoy the music....well, most of it :-)
The majority of our records are pressings from the heyday of the vinyl record, mainly the 1970s and 1980s. We have relatively few modern reissues. In my husband's opinion to truly appreciate the magic of vinyl, the nostalgia, you need to seek out pressings from this vinyl heyday. Many enthusiasts feel that they sound better because of the analogue mastering.
Most of our records have only been occasionally played as many were originally taped to cassette and then later purchased on CD. They are therefore generally in exceptional condition.
Please read the description below in bold type for details of this particular record listing and condition. Our records are supplied beautifully clean because they have received proper storage and care. All records have been cleaned using a high quality Pro-Ject VC-S record cleaning machine. Records are then placed in new high quality inner sleeves.
Record sleeves vary in condition but most are excellent just showing the usual signs of storage.
All records are test played throughout on a Technics SL1500C turntable fitted with high quality rigid body (RigB) Audio Technica VM series or Ortofon cartridges. A representative photo of the grading session is shown above.
Only ever seen one of these records for sale ever, well two I guess including this one.
This is a BBC Transcription Services recording of both Joan Armatrading and Gordon Giltrap Live In Concert, two separate 1976 concerts, one on each side of the record. BBC Transcription Services Stereo Pop Special 135.
Apart from unreleased demos and withdrawn items the rarest records ever made are Transcription Discs. Made for Commonwealth countries connected to the BBC they were pressed in very small quantities with an expiry date printed on the label. Unfortunately in most cases these instructions were carried out to the letter. Many of these performances have thus been lost and never committed to digital formats.
This LP is Near Mint, appears barely, if at all, played. The audio is SUPERB (BBC engineers were masters of their art) and surface noise is negligible. The track listing is as follows:
Side 1; Joan Armatrading in concert at the Paris Theatre, London; Help Yourself, Cool Blue Stole My Heart, Save Me, Love & Affection, Tall In The Saddle.
Side 2; Gordon Giltrap in concert performing songs from his latest album "Visionary"; Awakening, Robes & Crowns, Fantasia, Price Of Experience, The Tyger, Lucifer's Cage, Revelation.
Comes with the original BBC Transcription Services sleeve in excellent condition.
Please take the time to go through the photos above to check the quality of this LP. Pictures speak more than a thousand words!
I'm happy to answer any questions. I'm able to post worldwide and use MusicMax mailers with reinforcements. LPs are removed from sleeves when packing to preclude any damage to the sleeve in transit.
Please see any other listings I may have as postage can be combined.
Thanks for looking!
