Double album released in 1997, First Rays of the New Rising Sun contains songs Hendrix recorded for an unfinished album before his death in 1970. The final record was compiled by engineer and collaborator, Eddie Kramer. "First Rays” is probably the best of the posthumous Hendrix’s releases. The notes include rare photos and 8 pages of track descriptions.

Sleeve: Gatefold sleeve all corners and edges straight and true, fully readable spine, no tears, rips or writing, nice clean copy (see photos) certainly graded EX+ more NM-

4 page (8 sided) booklet NM- condition

Label: Clean and fresh new NM-

Vinyl: 180gm vinyl, in lively condition, played twice (owned since new) graded NM-

Audio:  owned since new - plays through clean, solid audio, no hops, skips, sticks, pips or pops (played on a Pro-Ject carbon - blue Ortofon) graded EX+/ NM-

I strictly adhere to the Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide using one + or - for addition guidance:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. 

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
